DC

Next weekend I'm fiiiiiiiiiinally venturing to DC for the VERY first time. Seriously, who am I that I haven't been to DC, especially considering I've lived a four hour bus ride away for over three years?

Anyway, I'll have Friday afternoon until Sunday evening in the nation's capital and I want to be a tourist! Tell me all your best recommendations. Thanks friends. :)

I love the Holocaust museum. I don't know if you are into that, but I loved it.

Shane's brother and sister live out there and I hear the cherry blossoms are BEAUTIFUL right now! Like all your trips, I can't wait to hear all about it and see the pictures. I haven't been to DC either...one of these days...

P.S. I'm feeling selfish about my move to Utah too. If you stop in Chicago, I get you all to myself. In Utah I'll have to share :(

I know, it's shocking that I've never been there in all my travels until they finally erected the Air Force Memorial after all these years. Remember when I went to that with Grandma and Grandpa Marks a few years back?? I'm so grateful my Dad was alive and healthy enough to attend. Also, the WWII Memorial. My Dad is on the registry if you look him up. Really cool! I would like to go back there when the cherry blossoms are out. I hear it's amazing! Who are you going with??

There is an EXTREMELY low branch that jumps out at you by the Lincoln Memorial. Consider yourself warned!

I went to Washington D.C. when I was 12. You know...going through puberty, super awkward, want to be cool. And it was pouring rain. And my parents made me wear a BRIGHT yellow rain poncho from the US mint (it looked like what is printed on a dollar bill, complete with a potrait of GW). I cried. And pouted. And stomped around. It was so not cool and I desperately want to be cool.

The Holocaust Museum is sad, but a great experience. I liked the US Mint. The Air & Space Museum is cool (has the Enola Gay). Plus all of the memorials/monuments to the presidents. And we went to Mount Vernon and Williamsburg, which you probably won't have time to do, but are awesome. The capitol building (esp the rotunda) is amazing. I like US History, so obviously I think DC is super cool. And I haven't been in 14 years! I have been dying to go back for a while now.

Jason went a couple years ago to visit Paul; he might have some good suggestions. And by a couple, I mean in 2004. Sad. Time flies.

And now that I left you the longest comment ever....

That will be so fun! I too really liked the Holocaust Museum, Lincoln Memorial and tour of the Capital Building. Downtown Alexandria is so charming too.

Can't wait to hear all about it! I've been wanting to go to DC for so long. And jealous by the way. Four hours in the car and I'm still...in Texas. Every direction (ok, north one hour lands me in Oklahoma, but you get the point).
